Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer credential is the premier certification for professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Windows 2000 & Windows 2003 platform and Microsoft server software. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems. The Windows 2000 & Windows 2003 track of the MCSE credential is designed for IT professionals working in the typically complex computing environment of medium to large organizations. An MCSE candidate should have at least one year of experience implementing and administering a network operating system. The Microsoft programs focus on computer software. The exams are administered by Virtual University Enterprises, independent testing organizations with locations worldwide.

Microsoft credential for applicants who are expert in operating systems, networking components, and Microsoft BackOffice products and related services. Seven exams are required to qualify: five core exams, plus two electives.


Microsoft Certified Solution Developer

Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .NET candidates are required to pass four core exams and one elective exam. The core exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in developing and maintaining enterprise applications that are based on Microsoft development tools, technologies, and platforms. The elective exam provides proof of expertise with a specific Microsoft server product.

An MCSD for Microsoft .NET candidate should have two years of experience developing and maintaining solutions and applications.

Cisco Certified Network Associate

Cisco Certified Network Associate. Certification indicates a knowledge in networking suitable for supporting LANs and dial up services. CCNA is a lower level of certification than CCNP.

Cisco Certified Network Associate The CCNA certification indicates a foundation in and apprentice knowledge of networking for the small office/home office (SOHO) market. CCNA certified professionals can design, install, and administer small local area networks (LANs) with 100 nodes or fewer. The Cisco program focuses on computer hardware. Exams are given by Cisco and certification is recognized internationally.

The entry-level operational credential offered by Cisco Systems. Applicants must be able to manage smaller LANs or WANs, simple routed LAN or LANE environments, or small ISPs. There is one exam for this certification.


Cisco Certified Network Professional

Cisco Certified Network Professional. Certification indicates a knowledge in networking suitable for supporting LANs and WANs. CCNP requires CCNA.

Cisco Certified Network Professional Prerequisite: CCNA The CCNP certification (Cisco Certified Network Professional) indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of networks. With a CCNP, a network professional can configure and operate local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and dial access services for organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The Cisco program focuses on computer hardware. Exams are given by Cisco and certification is recognized internationally.

The middle-tier operational credential offered by Cisco Systems. Applicants must be able to install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot routed WANs or LANs, Dial Access Services, or switched LAN networks. The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) credential is a prerequisite for the CCNP. There are two or four exams for this credential, depending on the test option.


RHCE (Red Hat Linux)

Since its inception in January 1999, the RHCE Exam has been delivered to thousands of persons around the world. Currently, Red Hat offers 2 levels of certifications for professionals working on Red Hat Systems, namely, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT). RHCE is a higher level of certification as compared to RHCT, and is also among the top 3 fastest growing certifications.

Red Hat Certification focuses on practical hands-on skills of the aspirants. It consists solely of practical lab exams. Therefore, just attaining the theoretical knowledge is not sufficient for clearing this exam. You should have an experience of at least 1 year performing troubleshooting and configuration related activities before you appear for this exam.

Red Hat also offers various levels of courses on the Red Hat Linux system. If you are new to Linux Operating System, you should take basic level courses. After that, get some experience working on Red Hat Systems, and then appear for the certification exam. If you are experienced with Linux system, but do not feel comfortable with the exam, you have an option of taking Red Hat rapid track 5 days course, and then go for the certification exam.


CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of computer service technicians with the equivalent of 500 hours of hands-on experience. Major hardware and software vendors, distributors and resellers accept CompTIA A+ as the standard in foundation-level, vendor-neutral certification for service technicians. The exams cover a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but are not bound to any vendor-specific products. The skills and knowledge measured by the CompTIA A+ exams were derived from an industry-wide and worldwide job task analysis. To date, more than 500,000 individuals have obtained CompTIA A+ certification.



CompTIA Network+® Certification

The CompTIA Network+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of networking professionals with at least nine months of experience in network support or administration or adequate academic training. A typical candidate would have CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge, but this is not a prerequisite. An accepted foundation-level, vendor-neutral certifcation for networking professionals, many IT certifications integrate CompTIA Network+ into their curriculums. There are approximately 135,000 CompTIA Network+ certified professionals worldwide. The skills and knowledge measured by this examination were derived from an industry-wide job task analysis and validated through an industry-wide survey of more than 2,500 participants.
